Justus Receives Solid Support from local LGBT “Big Three”

Jolie Justus has garnered the solid support of the three most influential political organizations that represent the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgendered (LGBT) and straight-ally voters.Justus is campaigning for the Democratic nomination for the 10th District of the Missouri State Senate.
“I am proud to have the united support of these activist organizations as my campaign reaches out to every neighborhood of this vibrant and diverse district,” Justus said.
Justus received the endorsement of The Four Freedom’s Democratic Club, Kansas City’s oldest LGBT and straight-ally Democratic organization. Justus received the endorsement following a competitive screening process, which invited participation by all candidates.
On late Thursday afternoon the campaign received confirmation that The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund endorses Jolie’s candidacy and recognized her campaigns efforts. “The Victory Fund” is the nation’s largest LGBT political action committee and one of the nation’s largest non-connected PACs.
In addition to financial support, The Victory Fund provides strategic and technical expertise to out LGBT candidates and officials. Victory Fund support is acknowledged as the determinative factor in the successful election or appointment of endorsed LGBT candidates.

Trolley Trail Run Introduced Jolie's Candidacy to Thousands
The Justus for State Senate Campaign staked out a prominent position during the annual Trolley Trail Run, which raises money for the Children's Center for the Visually Impared.
The Jolie Justus for State Senate Campaign entered an energetic team of walkers in AIDS Walk 2006.In addition the campaign maintained a booth where the public could learn more about Jolie and her candidacy for the 10th State Senate District.
Jolie Justus has provided both volunteer and financial support to programs and organizations that fight the scourge of AIDS.
The Justus for Senate campaign committee announced today that it has earned three important endorsements and exceeded all of its financial and volunteer goals for the first quarter.
Jolie Justus, a midtown Kansas City Democrat seeking the 10th District Missouri Senate seat, has been endorsed by Four Freedoms Democratic Club, KC PRIDE Democratic Club and Missouri State Representative Beth Low (D-39).
The campaign exceeded its financial goals by 25 percent, and is ahead of schedule putting together a field organization in Kansas City’s vibrant neighborhoods. Justus stressed her appreciation to those who were able to make a financial contribution to the campaign. “We’ve received contributions from hundreds of people and the majority of the money has come from within the 10th District. I’m overwhelmed by the generous and enthusiastic support that I have received from right here in Kansas City.”
“I want to thank my financial contributors and local organizers for their generosity as measured by time, money and hard work,” Justus said.
When asked what aspect of the campaign has pleased her most, Justus responded, “I am continually amazed by the support from people with whom I’ve worked over the years. Justus fights for First Amendment Rights with ACLU in Censorship of Gay-Straight Alliance T-Shirt

WEBB CITY, MO - The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit in federal court today against a high school that twice punished a student for wearing t-shirts bearing gay pride messages and banned him from wearing the shirts to school again. Attorneys for 16-year-old Brad Mathewson also asked for a court order to stop the school from further censoring his speech.
